Information Session via ZOOM

Grief touches every life, and no one should have to walk through it alone.

Join us at Griefwalk for an Information Session to learn how this program comes alongside people in their time of loss, offering care, presence, and hope. Whether you’re curious, feel called to support others, or simply want to understand what Griefwalk is all about, this session is for you.

It’s a great opportunity to invite friends, family, or colleagues who are curious about grief support, have a heart for walking with others, or may be exploring volunteer opportunities.

During the Information Session, you will:

  • Be introduced to the core elements of the Griefwalk program
  • Grow your understanding of the grief experience
  • Learn how Griefwalk supports those navigating loss
  • Receive enough information to discern whether Griefwalk is right for you
  • Hear about next steps for those interested in volunteering

Whether you have lots of time or just a little, there’s a place for you. From group support to behind-the-scenes help, there’s a role for every heart - no experience is required (full training provided).

Come discover how your time, presence, and heart can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

This training session is one of the two required trainings to become an approved facilitator (the Facilitator & Hosting Skills training is also required being held in February 2026).

This session focuses on Griefwalk’s 8-week Bereavement Loss Support Group program and is designed to help you feel confident, prepared, and supported as you step into facilitation.

In this training, participants will learn to:

  • Understand the core elements of our 8-week bereavement support group sessions
  • Identify the purpose and desired outcome of each week
  • Practice and strengthen facilitation skills with greater competence and ease
  • Collaborate with others to explore practical ways of using the content during group sessions
  • Use the weekly handouts and resources effectively to support participant learning and discussion

If you’re drawn to creating safe, compassionate spaces for others who are grieving, we’d love to have you consider joining the Griefwalk facilitation team.

Facilitator  & Hosting Skills Training

Interested in volunteering with Griefwalk as a Support Group Facilitator or Host?

Who is this training for:

Hosts (new and existing): If you are interested in becoming a host for our 8-week support group programs, then this is mandatory training to become approved.

Facilitators (existing): If you are an existing facilitator then this session is an annual requirement to maintain your approved status as a Griefwalk Facilitator

Facilitators (New): This is one of the two training sessions needed to become a fully approved facilitator.

The key learning objectives are:

  • Identify the role of support groups and the basic needs of support group members.
  • List the essential qualities of support group facilitators.
  • Distinguish between group support versus therapy and facilitation versus presenting or training.
  • Employ facilitation skills with increased competence and ease.
  • Deal more effectively with challenging situations and behaviours in a support group.

If you’re drawn to creating safe, compassionate spaces for others who are grieving, we’d love to have you consider joining the Griefwalk facilitation and hosting team.

Golf for Griefwalk

In 2022, we proudly hosted our inaugural Griefwalk golf tournament, an annual fundraising event dedicated to supporting the vital work of Griefwalk. This event was established with the goal of raising funds to cover the operating costs of the Griefwalk program, ensuring that it remains free and accessible to all who need it.

By participating in Golf for Griefwalk, you're directly contributing to the continued success and growth of this life-changing program, making a meaningful impact on those who need it most.

Thanks for joining us in 2025.  We'll be back in 2026.
